DONT get involved in shady methods of marketing.

A recent post in the DigitalPoint forum has prompted me to share the following with you......
OK guys, It's been 10 days.

I found a huge e-mail list but I don't even know if those emails are legit or not.
Do you suggest me to try to add some emails from this list to mine? If so, which way am I supposed to follow for importing process?
All at the same time or piece by piece?
Thanks in advance
Let's cut to the bottom line about this list you 'found' (I assume you mean a quantity of email addresses) and you're contemplating contacting those people by importing this list into your autoresponder.

No matter how you 'found' this list, importing and using it places you right in the path of spam complaints, and possible getting your I.P banned, or other nasty legal action taken against you - as an aside its probably low quality anyway, as most of them are. The old saying is 'rubbish in - rubbish out'

Take the time to read the CanSpam Act here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAN-SPAM_Act_of_2003

The only legit people you are permitted to email are those who have given you permission to end them information at your capture page - this is why reputable autoresponder service suppliers don't allow you to import lists of email addresses.

To build a List yourself, forget all the rubbish you hear and read about 1) using free autoresponders, 1) importing lists, 3) having you own hosted autoresponder and all the various 'shortcuts' and tricky methods.

Instead do the following:

1) Invest in a reputable autoresponder service supplier - I recommend 12SC because, unlike all the others, they provide not only the responder but an easy to use capture page maker, full tracking and 6 other services that all successful marketers have to have to succeed all in one integrated package - and all at very reasonable rates.  Go to my blog for full details on their package.

2) Use the capture page builder to turn out a simple capture page - offer a valuable free gift to people as an inducement for them to subscribe. Offer a GREAT gift, not just the usual ebook so many people offer - make yours stand out from the pack.

I offer a great value report for free - but here's the deal. Not only is it great content for free, the report can be rebranded with your affiliate links, for free!

So, lots of value, rebrandable for free, and often gets handed on to others, becoming viral. A triple whammy :-)

3) Make sure you track your efforts
- how many people subscribe and then, as your email series goes out to them, how many open your emails and how many click on the affiliate or other links in them.

4) Provide GREAT value to your subscribers in your emails - a mix of high quality free advice and content and the occasional promotion that's related to their interests and the reason they signed up.

There is a real art to this and if you want to see how I do it, sign up for my list - you will also get a 30 day trial of the autoresponder service supplier I use - no credit card or other payment details required

5) LOVE your subscribers!  They are your future, treat them well.
